Today, some of our operations team had the privilege of touring First Mile | Certified B Corp's Sacktory waste sorting facility! It was incredible to see firsthand the innovative solutions they’re implementing to ensure sustainable waste disposal. Their clear focus on extending the lifespan of waste through circular economy thinking and repurposing is truly inspiring.
A standout moment was learning about their approach to electrical waste, such as computers. By taking broken equipment, fixing it, and distributing it to the local community, including schools and charities, they’re making a tangible difference. This approach not only reduces waste but also supports local communities, ensuring that valuable resources are not lost to landfill but instead find a new lease on life.
For our clients in luxury retail, we had an exciting discussion on how First Mile can recycle single-use plastic bags used for clothing deliveries with their single-stream services. These bags can be transformed into bin bags provided by First Mile, showcasing a fantastic example of circular economy innovation.
